A Book Nook

Posted on: August 13th, 2011 by Kay Swatkowski

A friend who recently built a new home, included a children’s library.  Another friend has a book case in her living room for children’s book.  Close by is a child sized rocking chair. Having lost my children’s book collection five years ago when our basement flooded, I am reduced to a wicker basket that is at the end of the bed in the room our grandchildren use when they visit. I am committed to increasing the size of our children’s library and find a special way to make these books accessible to the kids.

Sharing good books is a wonderful part of grandparenting.  Do you have a special area set aside where your grandchildren can read?  How do you encourage this special activity in your home?

Leave your ideas in our comment section.  Perhaps you have found a way to display your children’s books in a way that you would want to share.

I’d love to hear your ideas.  In the meantime, take a look at this idea I discovered on pinterest.  This could be easily created in an older home with wonderful nooks and crannie

I turned one of our spare bedrooms into the ‘story room”. lots of books, inspirational quotes on the walls and imaginative drawings. The photo and the room you shared is so special.
