Arts and Crafts that use ideas from children’s books are great fun and also learning experiences for kids.  Our little granddaughters love Chicka Chicka Boom Boom. This story is about a coconut tree that is visited by every letter of the alphabet.  They each climb the tree until it becomes overcrowded.

A really great blog: iheartcraftythings.blogspot.com have come up with a great learning activity for this favorite children’s book.  You will want to check out the link below to see their step by step description on how to create this fun game for kids.

You will cut out a coconut tree complete with leaves and coconuts and will use magnets to help these pieces adhere to a cookie sheet.  Then each letter is also given a small magnet and the children can act out the story, putting the letters on various spots on the tree.  This gives them the chance to act out the story, deal with the problems and is good for fine motor control.

Be sure to check out this great website.
