To a small child, the perfect granddad is unafraid of big dogs and fierce storms but absolutely terrified of the word boo.
- Robert Brault
I have many warm memories of my grandfather.
When my children were small, my husband’s father would take our children for walks around our neighborhood after dinner. I can still see him with his hands clasped behind his back and the kids following him like ducklings. We didn’t live far from Lake Michigan and he spent many hours combing the Lake Michigan shoreline with the kids as they looked for rocks or interesting pieces of wood that washed up on the beach. When the kids visited these grandparents’ home, he walked them to a park at the local elementary school and pushed them on swings.
Grandpas are so important.
Here is a lovely idea for a gift for grandpa. You are going to want to check out Amanda’s blog. She has seven different handprint art projects that kids can do for grandparents.
