Dreamsicle Frozen Dessert

Posted on: April 7th, 2012 by Kay Swatkowski

Happy Easter!

Remember Dreamsicles?  Dreamsicles were certainly my favorite ice cream treat as a child.  Here is a light, springtime or summer dessert that is reminiscent of that orange and vanilla concoction.  This very simple recipe will be part of our Easter dinner tomorrow.

One store bought angel food cake – You could make you own if you would prefer

one half gallon vanilla ice cream

one half gallon orange sherbert

Cool Whip

Tear angel food cake into bite size pieces and line a 9 X 13 pan.  Using an ice cream scoop, put alternating scoops of slightly softened vanilla and orange sherbert on top of the angel food cake.  When the cake is covered, using a large spoon or spatula to spread the ice cream and sherbert evenly.

To finish, cover the ice cream with an entire container of Cool Whip.  Cover loosely and place in freezer for 24 hours.

Remove the dessert from freezer for about fifteen minutes before cutting.
